My SU! Story
Even though I never thought I was very creative, I kept trying different crafts. I have hooked rugs, knitted, crocheted, embroidered, cross-stitched, made quilts, made scrapbooks and I have finished at least one project in all those different disciplines, but never had much interest in doing more.
But it wasn’t until I was invited to a Stampin’ Up! workshop that I fell in love. I loved the card that we made. It was finished fairly quickly. It was cute. It looked good enough to send to without my feeling embarrassed and I felt great. That was 1998.
I wondered how long interest in this craft would last, but the more I got into it, the more I learned. There’s always some new technique, or a new design or a new stamp set. I never tire of it.. It’s adorable or serious. It’s functional and useful. I was hooked.
Even today, I love that the art is done for you. I love that the sky’s the limit in how any design can be changed up to suit the occasion or the recipient or even me, the creator.
Workaholic me, who had been fighting retirement because I didn’t know what I could do with all my free time, suddenly had an outlet that made me feel good and useful and creative. I was a stamping fool and this was my therapy.
In 2008, my husband and I retired and moved to Reno, NV from Simi Valley, CA. I was still a great customer, didn’t want the commitment of carrying the business on my own. But I started teaching card-making at the clubhouse of our Active Adult 55+ community and decided I wanted to be able to buy my Stampin’ Up! products at a discount. I already knew enough to know SU! products are the BEST, bar none. The colors all coordinate so the inks match the markers and the inks and markers match the cardstock and ribbons. The cardstock is a wonderful, heavy-weight, rich stock. When you feel the cardstock, you feel the quality, weight and color and know you have a very special product. When you receive a card on SU! cardstock, you feel special.
So, in March, 2010, I became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and simply love it! I love what I do and I want to share that love and that fun with everyone I meet.
