I wasn’t sure I really liked the chalkboard look when it first came out. But it is so prevalent everywhere in magazines and TV, the more I see it, the more I’m liking it.
The base is Whisper White. The designer paper background is Back to Black, now retired. I could have stayed with just a black-and-white card, which is striking in its very nature, but I wanted to add a little color. So, in this case, it’s Bermuda Bay, but lots of colors could be put with the Black-and-white combo.
The little horizontal strip of Bermuda Bay behind the tag is embossed with the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder and works perfectly with the black-and-white paper behind it.
The focal point sentiment is from Friendly Wishes and it looked to me like an old-fashioned sign that is very adaptable to the chalkboard technique. Using the Colorbox Chalk Ink in Rose (but you can’t tell here what color it is) on the Chalkboard Black card stock (regular Black card stock does NOT work), I stamped the image. Then cut the tag with the Ornate Tag Topper.
I stamped the word FRIEND a second time in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White card stock, fussy-cut around it and colored the letters with Bermuda Bay Marker, then popped it up with Dimensionals over the same word in the stamped image.
Through the top hole in the tag, I added some black-and-white gingham ribbon and tied with some Baker’s Twine. Just add a little bling with randomly placed Bermuda Bay Sequins and a tiny pink sequin heart.
Thanks for looking,
Carole
