This is an exercise in using up DSP that has been hanging around too long. I call this the “sunburst effect” and it is merely cutting strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP) into 1-1/2 x 6″ pieces, then cutting again diagonally. A little prep work is involved here, but look at the great effect!
The papers used were from the Season of Style DSP stack and utilized the colors Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar. What a rare and beautiful combination of eye-popping color!
I started with a piece of white typing paper and ran Snail Adhesive around the perimeter and a great big X through the middle of that. Then I started adding the strips, beginning in the middle and moving out to both sides, laying them side-by-side, abutting and not overlapping. This will give you overages all around, so trim those off by hand. Mount on the Baked Brown Sugar mat.
On a piece of Whisper White, the Polka Dot Pieces flower images were stamped in the colors of the palette. Then the butterfly was also stamped. The white piece was strategically placed on the Big Shot platform and cut with one of the smaller ovals from the Ovals Collection. Then the next larger size oval was cut from Coastal Cabana card stock to mat the first oval.
The butterfly was punched from the Elegant Butterfly Punch and mounted on Dimensionals. Tiny little flower centers were punched with the retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack, each little edge was curled inward and a Basic Rhinestone was added for some bling. This entire oval collage was popped up with Dimensionals. A few wraps around with some Coastal Cabana Baker’s Twine add the finishing touches.
Thanks for looking,
