Again, from the Holiday Catty, this Magnificent Maple leaf is a single stamp has so many uses. But one of my favorites for fall-type leaves is “thumping” or “dotting.” Ink up the stamp with a light colored ink (Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit in these two leaves), then using the broad brush end of darker markers, dot or bounce or delineate edges with the darker colors before stamping. Can you see the effect? These two leaves were fussy-cut by hand.
The base is Very Vanilla, with a right-side stripe of Gingham Roller Wheel, inked in Summer Starfruit. The panel of Summer Starfruit card stck behind the focal image has been run through the Big Shot with the Argyle Embossing Folder.
The tag from Chalk Talk is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar, cut with the coordinating Chalk Talk Framelits and the “something” stamped separately in Pear Pizzazz, hand-cut and popped up with a couple of Dimensionals. The tag is raked at an angle, with the leaves popped up through the opening of the tag and fastened with Dimensionals.
The next card has a base of Very Vanilla, a mat of Summer Starfruit and then another layer of Vanilla. Random Magnificent Maple images are stamped in Baked Brown Sugar, Pear Pizzazz and Summer Starfruit on the Very Vanilla background. A stripe from the Gingham roller stamp across the bottom.
A piece of DSP from Soho Subway is die-cut with one of the Chalk Talk Framelits. And the “For You” from the Chalk Talk Stamp Set is embellished with a Basic Rhinestone. The fussy-cut leaf is then tucked between the tag and the round (punched with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch) message and propped up with Dimensionals.
Another sample, using the circles from the Circles Framelits, in Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White, with the Magnificent Maple leaves centered in the circles. Again, the “thumping technique” was used here as well.
And another sample, using the Gingham Wheel across the top in Summer Starfruit and the bottom in Baked Brown Sugar. A framelit from the Deco Label Framelits was used to cut out a piece of designer paper from Soho Subway DSP. Again, that great set, Chalk Talk, provided just the perfect sentiment, stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. The two leaves were tucked in behind the DSP.
Still another sample employs the new Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder on Pear Pizzazz Card Stock on a Very Vanilla Base. I used Old Olive Card Stock to die-cut “thankful” in the new Expressions Framelits. Even though a darker shade of green was used, there wasn’t enough contrast, so a strip of Very Vanilla was put behind the “thankful.”
Seasonal, yes somewhat, but perfect for a Fall Birthday, Thinking of You, Get Well, or Thank You, or even Thanksgiving cards.
