Serene Silhouettes is such a lovely set. So many different images, all of which are stand-alone focal images, it’s hard to choose which one to use.
My apologies up front for using some retired products on this one. The base is Lavender Lace (retired), then a mat of Mellow Moss (retired) and a layer of Whisper White.
First of all, I made a stencil from Apothecary Accents framelits, Just using a piece of scrap card board, I cut the framelit and saved the frame of the cut-out for a stencil. Then I sponged on Whisper White card stock, in Bashful Blue (retired), the entire inside of the framelit stencil. Then the image from Serene Silhouettes is colored right on the rubber of the stamp, with markers (Lavender Lace and Mellow Moss in this case). Stamp the image right over the blue background.
With more Lavender Lace, I punched a strip with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch (retired). Then I wove through the holes in the punch some Mellow Moss ribbon (retired).
Inside, the message can be Get Well, With Sympathy or Thinking of You.
Here is another card from the same Serene Silhouettes, using two other wonderful focal image stamps from that stamp set.
This three-layer technique is very simple, but has an amazing visual and makes people wonder how it was done.
Cut cardstock as follows:
Vanilla or White layers: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 (folded), 5-1/8 x 3-7/8, 4-1/8 x 2-7/8, 3-3/8 x 2-1/8.
The darker colored mat layers: 5-1/4 x 4, 4-1/4 x 3, 3-1/2 x 2-1/4.
You will note the layers and mats are separated by only 1/8″. Making the difference any larger would give you less of an image surface. But you can try it and see if you like it better.
With just the two light colored larger bottom layers stacked up and using temporary adhesive to keep in place, randomly stamp the tree branch/bird image in varying directions and off the page with Chocolate Chip or Early Espresso inks. Don’t worry about the gaps between the layers. The mats will cover them.
Then the top layer image is colored with markers (Chocolate Chip or Early Espresso and Pear Pizzazz or Old Olive). Stamp on the smallest light colored card stock and then layer the mats under each layer and adhere. It’s busy, yet simple. It is both masculine and feminine. It’s a birthday card, a get well card, a thinking of you card. So versatile..
